If the answer if yes let us begin with "congratulations" and a big virtual hug!

The adventure of getting married is a huge experience… for one year now you will become a master in DIY, you will get inspired on Pinterest, then you’ll have to choose who are gonna be your bridesmaids and groomsmen. Some of these moments will be very funny and other will be trickier and you’ll have to stay calm and keep your energy high leading to good vibes.

At the end of this incredible journey you will manage to create your wedding day which will be 100% fitting to both your personalities and it is going to be the perfect white page on which writing your future story together.

In these ups and downs you will have to make important choices like choosing the perfect location and choosing your photographer and videographer. Where to begin and how to do it right?

I am a wedding photographer in Belgium so I gathered quite a lot of experiences in this field. My suggestions would be to begin with creating a timeline and a check-list beginning 12 months prior. In my opinion the most important voices are the location, the photographer, the videographer, the make-up artist, the hair stylist, the catering and the wedding planner. I would definitely begin by booking the location and deciding the exact date. Then it will depend on your priority: maybe you have a special location and you would agree to change the day or maybe this date has such a special meaning that you would prefer to make up your mind for another location instead if it is already booked. I advise to choose your priorities and be prepared to be flexible which will help you to keep your smile until the end of the adventure.

How to find a professional wedding photographer in Belgium?

Let’s dive now into the choice of the photographer, which is obviously, super important from my point of view and for you too if you are reading my blog. Choosing your wedding photographer Belgium or elsewhere could be very difficult if you have no clue from where to begin. Why not beginning with a Google research and a romantic geek-night? In this way you will see a lot of pictures and understand which is your personal taste. Maybe you also met wedding photographers at friends’ weddings. In this case you might already have found your love-at-first-sight-photographer.

Then another great way to discover cool photographers and styles is to read wedding blogs and we are lucky enough to have And I Said Yes in Belgium. And why not beginning to follow specific groups on Facebook where you can connect with other brides that can share their experience with you. If you don’t have a direct “coup de foudre” Keep your short-list to five photographers maximum and do your homework: visit carefully their website, blog and Instagram to check out photos of other weddings they've shot, which will give you an idea of their style, the photographer's personality and sensibility. Also look for the feedbacks from their previous clients on their Facebook Page and their website.

Then meet your potential photographers in person (or skype) and assess whether your personalities mesh. If you like what you see on their site call to see if they're available for your wedding date. If the photographer is already booked on your date, you may want to see if they have an associate or can recommend another shooter with a similar style. Be prepared to talk about your venue, wedding style and what you envision for your photos during this meeting.

At this point you are nearly done, you just have to ask your last questions to your photographer if you still didn’t: How many images should I expect? Will they be high resolution or low resolution? Will I be able to get prints made myself, or does the photographer retain the rights to the images?
